Evening routines for the cold-sensitive
So, like us — you get cold easily, have multiple blankets, and love a hot drink.
During the colder weather, the nights draw in and it’s much harder to get out of bed. But you might already have the resources to survive the chill — it’s about layering comfort with intention.
Create your nest
Treat yourself like you’re heading into hibernation: gather throws, fluff your pillows, snacks and a hot drink. Select your favourite comfy clothes that will keep you warm and usher you towards relaxation. You can make little changes around you that bring peace — dim the lights, leave the curtains open for the sun to fade inside your space, or switch to softer, warmer bulbs.
Internal warmth
Warmth can signal to your body that it’s safe to rest. We think the best kind of warmth comes from the inside — out. So, beyond boosting your body temperature with home heating, layers or a heat pad, a hot meal or drink can soothe in a similar way. Often, we suggest trying herbal teas, but these aren’t for everyone. Find what you love to nourish yourself with — whether a tea, hot chocolate, or juice (a warm apple juice is surprisingly delicious).
Consistently... yours
Understanding and validating your own rituals is vital. It may take some time, but rituals become lifechanging when you’re proud to commit to them and call them ‘yours’.Simple actions count. Lighting a candle, putting on an ‘evening wind-down’ playlist or reading just a few pages of a book can be exactly what you need to get through the cold nights, stay cosy, and be kind to yourself — whatever the weather.
